A seasoned orchestral conductor of community and semi-professional ensembles who is known as much for his compelling conducting and performances as for his highly dynamic repertoire programming, Robert has received acclaim from top industry professionals for his conducting performances of a broad and diverse range of orchestral and symphonic masterworks including local and acclaimed national and international soloists and works by local composers. A Master of Music graduate of the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and also from Monash University (Music Honours, Bachelor Performing Arts), Robert is a former conducting lecturer of Monash University and conducting tutor at The University of Melbourne, and is a commissioned symphonic composer, arranger, music tutor and adjudicator for music competitions in Melbourne.
Currently, Robert is the chief conductor of the Australasian Orchestra, Monash Medical Orchestra and the Surrey Hills Orchestra, has conducted the Australian New Goldberg Orchestra for its 2026 concerts, and conducted the Melbourne Arts orchestra for the Prize Winners Concert for East West Arts Association’s 9th Melbourne Pacific Piano Open Competition in 2026 to which he will return in 2027. He regularly guest conducts ensembles throughout Victoria and has lead workshops for choirs and orchestras of community and established education organisations in both Victoria and New South Wales.
